In our current political climate, many people in Africa have experienced harmful effects.
George B.N Ayittey a Professor in Ghana wrote this in the book The Voice from Africa “In post-colonial African progress has held backy Catastrophic failure of leadership and total government dysfunction. The cause of leadership failure is not culture, but the systemic result of adopting an alien system to impose on the Africa traditional Chief,
Nana Osei-Bonsu, Asantefuohene in Ghana: “Your modern politics(in Africa) is dictated by personal greed, power and suppression of thought. Our forefathers believed in participatory democracy. They saw politics as a way to liberate and build nations. The“modern” school(in Africa) taught us to read and write, but not where we came from or where we are going. The schools again teach us how to acquire money, but not how wealth is created. We want to bring people’s awareness back to their roots. The chief represents the people. Without the people, there is no chief. They have one goal. The people make the rules and the laws, and both the chief and the people adhere to the same rules. We as a people have deserted our traditions in favor of (foreign ones). We need to go back in time and learn every aspect of our traditions that served our forefathers well” Prof George B.N Ayittey, The voice from Africa.
It’s from these inspired writings we have form Ideas for the Emerging Leaders Program to support young professional and emerging leaders in Africa with the necessary knowledge to issues relating to market, individual rights, law, Government and property rights for them to be able to stand and speak in one voice as new bread of Africa.
We believe when people are given the chance to live in freedom, dignity and with help of the market, they are able to live a life that contributes to a prosperous society. We know what it feels and the result of being denied rights, to property, rights to life, rights to exchange, and not protected by the Law. Today, Liberty Sparks, under the ideas program for the emerging leaders gives you a unique opportunity to learn a moral concept of right, influence, and support people understanding of classical liberal ideas.
Together, we’re guided by a shared belief that all human have a right to life, property, trade
and protection so that can live with dignity.
